The Accursed Farms website (www.accursedfarms.com) is home to some of the best content the internet has ever seen. The owner Ross Scott has worked in the Machinima scene for years with world-famous Machinima series such as Freeman’s Mind and Civil Protection.
The video content found on his website is just unparalleled in terms of his quality. I may be a huge Ross Scott fan so I’m biased but I’m glad to see it all collected in one spot. The website design is incredibly simple and easy to read. I enjoy the segmentation of it all.
His two big machinima series Civil Protection and Freemans Mind are also found on the website. Freeman’s Mind follows the inner thoughts of Gordon Freeman through the game Half-Life. Ross says what Gordon is thinking and it provides endless amusement to the viewer as it incorporates the typical man thinking through the insanity of videogame worlds. I enjoy that he references real things which helps keeps the series grounded even when fantastical things happen. Every single episode is worth the wait and I started watching in 2008. For reference, the original series didn’t start till 2007 and didn’t finish till 2014. Many things have taken years and have disappointed when they were released. Freeman’s Mind is the exception.
Civil Protection follows the comical exchanges of Mike and Dave in the Half-Life universe. It ended on a cliffhanger and is since on hiatus. Whatever message you get from the short description it should be that it’s worth the watch. I don’t want to spoil anything.
If you can’t get enough of the comedy of Ross, you owe it to yourself to check out the Game Dungeon in which he goes and takes a look at games. The thing is his tastes are interesting, to say the least, so if he picks something you know you’re in for a wonderful time. Everything else is really self-explanatory for the video section.
The games list is where you need some explaining to understand what’s going on. Any game that is on that list has gotten his attention and has been broken down by genre.
In short, the Accursed Farms website is a perfect example of how to make your content clean and accessible. Other creators should follow in his example.
